Hello.

Welcome. Come on in. Take your shoes off. (In case you’re Spanish, we do that when we visit someone’s home in the U.S. It’s friendly and welcoming, not weird.)

You’re probably here because you already know me and you’d like to have a nice laugh. Whether you’re hoping to laugh with me or at me, I can assure you, you’ve come to the right place. If you want to skip all this and get on with the laughing, here’s the last sentence of this page in advance for you:

Maybe you don’t know me (in which case, how did you get here? I’m so glad you came!). Maybe you were actually hoping to find out about me.

ABOUT ME:

I’m a Boston-born American who inconceivably decided one day to leave a perfectly nice life as an actor and teaching artist in Philadelphia to move to Barcelona, where I’m now doing everything from teaching hairdressers how to say “bangs” in English to waving and smiling on floats in local parades to begging children to stop screaming in a language they’ve never heard before.

Much like Cervante’s unlikely but gleefully delusional protagonist, I’m making my way through the quixotic adventures of living in Barcelona (ok, it’s not that much like Don Quixote). I’m exploring labyrinths made of red tape as well as labyrinths of the more traditional, topiary sort, such as El Parc del Laberint d’Horta.

There will be unrefrigerated eggs. There will be paddle-surfing. There will be English, Spanish and Catalan. There may be some crying. Check out my recent posts to see it all.
